The Northern Territory is at the forefront of Australia’s energy transition and is committed to achieving net zero emissions by 2050 by facilitating strong investment. The NT Clean Energy & Decarbonisation Forum brings together key players from the energy and resources industries to showcase clean energy projects and initiatives as well as, explore how the mining and gas sectors are decarbonising their operations.
Three conferences. One all access pass. Incredible networking & industry engagement in the Top End.
NT Resources Week is specifically timed this year to take place following the 2024 Northern Territory General Election, and will be your perfect opportunity to engage with the newly elected NT Government firsthand, and to gain an understanding of their new priorities and plans going forward.
2024 is shaping up to be a cracker of a year with ENORMOUS potential for project development across the Northern Territory.
The NT is in the box seat to provide a supermarket of LNG, clean energy, carbon storage, hydrogen, and critical minerals to meet surging global demand and drive decarbonisation, and provide energy security for Australia and our region.
Plans are advancing with the development of the $1.5 billion Federal Government funded Middle Arm Sustainable Development Precinct, which will drive further project investment in Northern Australia. This investment will accelerate the development of infrastructure for gas processing, liquids refining, critical minerals processing, battery manufacture, hydrogen advancements and the development of carbon capture and storage.
The global shift towards decarbonisation – and the acceleration towards electrification – is generating major interest in the development of the NT’s critical minerals sector. The Federal Government recently announced it will provide up to $840 million to help establish an “Australian-first” combined rare earths mine and refinery north of Alice Springs, to be operated by Arafura Resources.
LNG’s critical role in providing energy security to Australia’s Asian trading partners will continue to drive new development of billions of investment dollars in new LNG infrastructure in Northern Australia such as Santos’ Barossa project, and other offshore gas opportunities.
It’s an exciting time for the development of onshore gas in the Beetaloo and McArthur Basins, with very promising news in project advancement and new associated gas pipeline infrastructure investment. This will be a game changer for regional development in the wider Katherine and Barkly regions, and act as a driver for new gas based manufacturing in the NT, and provide new gas supplies to the eastern states.
Exciting opportunities await for the development of the Sun Cable large scale solar project, new battery storage and other key enablers of the renewable energy transition in Northern Australia. The NT is blessed with enormous potential to develop new renewable energy projects. The Federal Government is releasing the much awaited First Nations Clean Energy Strategy, which will give further direction to partnering and engaging with indigenous communities in the development of new renewable energy projects so that these communities can participate and benefit from the clean energy transformation.
2024 is likely to see a number of Final Investment decisions made on leading resources projects in the NT, creating incredible new business opportunities for the wider service and supply sector. It’s time for you to get in on the ground floor.
Off the back of last year’s record turnout, this is the year NOT to miss out on attending the one stop shop that sees all of the senior resources sector executives responsible for Northern Australia descend on Darwin for one week in September.
